French II

Welcome back to the French program at KGHS!  Learning a foreign language contributes to students’ holistic development.  Proficiency in a second language gives students access to a broader range of input, experiences and perspectives, and is believed to raise achievement in other subject areas.  I want to foster a respect for and understanding of other languages and cultures, and to provide a skills base to facilitate further language learning.  Students are graded on the five competencies of language: reading, writing, listening, speaking, and culture.  We will also work towards the five foreign language elements: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.  To fully understand the impact and the influence of the French language on today’s society, we will also be studying the rich cultures, customs, current events, and geographies or several French speaking countries.  Be expected to use and hear French in class.  We will complete units 6-9 of T’es branche? 1 and unit 4 of T'es branche? 2, while supplementing with materials from Unit 10 in T'es branche? 1 and Units 1 and 2 in T'es branche? 2.

Below you can find some general information about the class.  For agendas, homework, and other assignments specific to a unit, please see the individual sub-pages for each unit under the French II tab.
